Victoria Beckham aptly uses Brooklyn Beckham’s birthday tribute to praise her and David’s parenting skills

Victoria Beckham wished Brooklyn Beckham a happy birthday in typical Posh Spice style.

The 49-year-old fashion designer posted a tribute to her eldest son on Instagram on March 4 for his 25th birthday. In her first post, Victoria shared a sweet retro video of young Brooklyn singing with his father David Beckham at a Spice Girls concert.

“Happy birthday Brooklyn. We all love you so much,” she captioned the video. “Generous, funny, talented, and with the kindest and most giving heart. We are so proud of the son, big brother, and husband you are. You always put everyone else before yourself. Your love and energy is so special and touches everyone you meet. We love you!!!!”

In her second post, however, Victoria took the opportunity to praise herself and her husband David for their parenting skills. “Today we celebrate Brooklyn’s 25th birthday!!! David, I love you so much and am so proud of the parents we are,” she wrote alongside a photo of the couple – who have been married since 1999 – posing with the aspiring chef.

“We make a good team!!!! Happy birthday,” Victoria added.

Unsurprisingly, her birthday tribute received many amused reactions from Instagram followers, who pointed out that she had – whether accidentally or not – dedicated Brooklyn’s birthday post to herself.

“Weird choice of words for your son’s birthday!” commented one Instagram user.

“Why do I find this caption so funny?” said another.

“Today is about Brooklyn, not you, Vic,” said a third person alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Some people criticized the mother of four for using Brooklyn’s birthday greeting to praise herself and David for their parenting skills.

“How weird that this post is all about how amazing she is,” one person said. “Maybe we should tell all our kids that on their birthdays.”

Another asked: “What does this have to do with David?”

Despite the backlash, many fans defended the former Spice Girls member, pointing out that it was difficult to support a family – let alone be in the spotlight.

“I love this perspective. Raising a child is damn hard and we as parents should be celebrating OUR accomplishment of bringing a child to another birthday,” one user responded. “Yes, it’s great for them, but taking a moment to celebrate yourself and your partnership with the other parent is good too.”

“Why do you leave messages if it’s just criticism?” wrote another fan. “Victoria is very proud of her son, she says, and besides, it’s thanks to the way his parents David and Victoria have raised him… Why do you always look for mistakes unnecessarily!”

Meanwhile, the former Manchester United player shared his own birthday tribute to Brooklyn on Monday. He posted a throwback video on Instagram of little Brooklyn on the football pitch with his father. David was seen in his trademark red shirt and with his iconic buzzcut, while little Brooklyn resembled his father in a miniature Manchester United long-sleeved shirt.

“Happy 25th birthday, my big boy. I am so proud of the man you have grown into and you have always maintained the same values you grew up with, which are polite and kind,” wrote the Inter Miami co-owner. “We love you so much so I wish you an incredibly happy day.”

These days, Brooklyn has tied the knot with 29-year-old model Nicola Peltz. The couple married in April 2022 during a lavish wedding in Palm Beach. In honor of his birthday, the The Lord of the Elements The actress shared a photo of herself and her husband walking in the rain while Brooklyn held an umbrella over their heads.

“Happy birthday @brooklynpeltzbeckham I hope all your wishes come true,” she captioned the Instagram post on Monday. “I love you so much. You have the most beautiful heart and I’m so lucky to call you mine.”

Besides Brooklyn, David and Victoria have three other children together: sons Romeo (21) and Cruz (19) and daughter Harper (12).
