Arthur Ranson’s Button Man receives an extensive Apex edition with original artwork, a nearly 200-page reproduction of the original artwork.

Last year Arthur Ranson told Comics Journal, “I use a Google Alert thing that gives me all the latest comic book news from around the Internet. I get regular emails from the Bleeding Cool website, which is all about comics.” Hi Arthur! I love your work and am looking forward to purchasing the Apex Edition of your Buttonman Book by Rebellion Publishing. A nearly 200-page reproduction of Arthur Ranson’s original artwork from the series, in the style of the Artist’s Edition volumes developed by Scott Dunbier at IDW and now at Act 4.

“Button Man is an action-packed thriller that is rightly considered one of the finest comic strips ever published in 2000 AD, and a high point in the career of Arthur Ranson, whose photorealistic illustrations astonished readers.”

“The story follows military veteran Harry Ex, who returns to England with no idea what to do with his new life back home. However, when he is contacted by an old comrade, he finds himself in a vast and strange new world. He is hired as a “Button Man”: he is paid by invisible, powerful men to take part in secret shoot-outs to the death with other professional killers.”

“After surviving his first fight and making a name for himself on the scene, Harry finds himself drawn deeper into the world – but every gunfight could be his last. How long can Harry keep this up, especially when his thirst for violence brings him into conflict with the shady characters who originally hired him?”

“Button Man was written by John Wagner, co-creator of Judge Dredd, and drawn entirely by Arthur Ranson this season. It is also currently being adapted into a television series by David Leitch, director of The Fall Guy.”

“Arthur Ranson has long been one of 2000 AD’s most popular artists. After making his first mark working on Judge Anderson, he teamed up with John Wagner to create the critically acclaimed Button Man series, and later worked with Alan Grant on Mazeworld. He also co-created the character of pyrokinetic Mega-City One citizen Juliet November, and illustrated both Judge Dredd and several Future Shocks.

“This Apex edition reprints nearly 200 pages of the first three stories, rescanned from the original art, printed at the size the pages were drawn, and without the speech bubbles, to give you a true glimpse into Arthur Ranson’s meticulous work. Every page of this book has been scanned directly from Ranson’s drawing, presenting each page as if you were looking at it in person!

“Measuring a massive 19″ x 14″, this is a landmark collection of a classic 2000 AD series, straight from the drawing board! With a total of 192 pages, this is one of the most comprehensive Apex collections to date and follows previous editions celebrating the artwork and legacy of revolutionary artists such as Kevin O’Neill, Brian Bolland, Mick McMahon and Steve Dillon.”
