Discover Airlines expands fleet and modernizes long-haul routes

DALLAS — Discover Airlines (4Y) will significantly expand its fleet from 27 to 33 aircraft by mid-2027. The expansion includes the purchase of six Airbus A330-300s and three Airbus A320s.

The new A330s are expected to enter service in mid-2027, while the A320s will be operational by 2025. At the same time, three Airbus A330-200s will be removed from the fleet when their leases expire in 2026.

Since its inception, 4Y has used Airbus A330s for long-haul flights and Airbus A320s for short- and medium-haul flights, both of which are well suited to the growing leisure travel market due to their efficiency and capacity.

Discover Airlines plans to introduce a new product in its A330 fleet from 2027 to expand its long-haul offering.

This upgrade includes an “All Aisle Access” configuration in Business Class, improved seating and a new entertainment system in all travel classes. Details of this product refresh have been finalized and will be announced shortly.

Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, expressed confidence in the airline’s growth, stressing that the fleet expansion and product improvements will consolidate the airline’s position in the leisure travel market and strengthen the Lufthansa Group’s presence in this sector.

The airline was previously called Eurowings Discover. The German holiday airline flies to destinations in North America, Africa, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean from its locations in Frankfurt and Munich. Operations began on September 5, 2023.
