The interim government of Bangladesh has decided to publish a white paper highlighting the current economic situation.
A committee headed by renowned economist Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya may be formed to draft the proposed white paper, the Chief Advisor’s office said on Wednesday.
He may nominate the required number of committee members in consultation with the Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The members of the committee work on a voluntary basis.
The areas on which the proposed White Paper focuses are: Public finance management – domestic resources, public expenditure (public investment, ADP, subsidies and debt), financing the fiscal deficit, inflation and food management – production, public procurement and public food distribution, external balance – exports, imports, remittances, foreign direct investment, foreign exchange reserves, foreign financial flows and debt, energy and electricity – demand, supply, prices, costs and sales contracts, private investment – access to credit, electricity, connectivity and logistics, employment – domestic and foreign, formal and informal wages, youth unemployment.
