MMA fighter Sonny Luque hosts “Loco Birthday Food Drive” to benefit the Laredo community

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Local MMA fighter Sonny “Loco” Luque celebrated his birthday by giving back to the community with the “Loco Food Drive.” On Tuesday, August 20, people lined up around the Bethany House to receive over 120 plates of food and desserts.

Luque told KGNS he feels blessed to be able to achieve his dreams and wanted to give back to others on his special day. “It started with a simple goal of 30 plates and it turned into a big thing. We have over 120 plates to hand out. We have dessert for everyone. It was just a chain of one good deed after another and suddenly it turned into something big,” Luque said. “It didn’t even have a name. Now it’s called ‘Loco Food Drive.'”

Luque worked with local businesses and friends to make the food drive possible. He hopes his actions inspire others to give back and plans to help the community even more often in the future.
