A live shrimp attacked a woman eating at a restaurant in China. They say you shouldn’t play with your food, but it’s better than having your food play with you!

You never expect food to get in the way when you’re out eating. But that’s exactly what happened to this lady. This shrimp wasn’t ready to be prepared as a meal, and it seemed to do everything it could to save its own life. Now the video is going viral around the world.

Now that’s a food fight! This unique dish ended in tears after the live shrimp turned the tables and tried to punish the woman who tried to eat it. The video is making the rounds on the internet and has now reached around 5 million views and counting.

The video was shot in an unnamed restaurant in China. In the video, the woman is seen trying to submerge the live shrimp in a pot of other seafood – but the shrimp wouldn’t go. The shrimp surprises the woman by jumping out of her hand and attacking her instead. You can’t blame her! She might have guessed her fate, which was just seconds away. According to The New York Post It was a mantis that had grasping arms that it used to impale and crush its prey. It was basically like a smaller Swiss Army knife.

While the live shrimp successfully dodged the hot pot, it was unable to dodge the chopsticks it was using to pick it up, and it increased its attack. At this point, it starts crying quite loudly and screaming in pain. It looks like the shrimp bit her hand and she needed a staff member to help her. It looks intense! She seems to be in a lot of pain. I’m not sure how much it hurts or if she was just caught off guard… but I’m assuming it really hurts. She doesn’t seem to be feeling well and looks like she’s in serious pain when she finally turns the camera off.

Take this as a lesson and don’t play with your food! Having to cook it yourself might not be the best idea in the future. I can’t imagine her trying it again. You can watch the viral video for yourself below. The rest of the meal actually looks pretty good! Hopefully she was able to stay and enjoy it.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. 13 years after graduating, he was named Clarkston High School’s 2009 class clown. That’s totally normal. He owes that to his time as an intern at Comedy Central and as a social media correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy all over the country, both stand-up and sit-down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on the radio and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also completely uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So basically anything and everything.
