FX has several big fall releases planned, and one of them is American Sports History: Aaron Hernandezby Ryan Murphy.

The first trailer for the series was recently released. As Murphy’s American Horror Story, The series is conceived as the first season of an anthology series.

Written by Stu Zicherman and executive produced by Murphy, American Sports History: Aaron Hernandez chronicles the meteoric rise and fall of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez.

The first part of American Sports Story is based on The Boston Globe and Wondery’s podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. The miniseries traces the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez, exploring the different aspects of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide and their legacy in sports and American culture.

The true story behind “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez”

Hernandez is alleged to have had affairs with men during his relationship with his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, who stood by him during his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd. During the trial for Lloyd’s murder, Hernandez was charged with the double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012, of which he was acquitted in 2017. Days after his acquittal, Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell in an apparent suicide.
