Community thanks Lexington veteran in grand style for her service

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WKYT) – LaTonya Bartholomew, born and raised in Lexington, served in the Army for 22 years.

Now her community is thanking her in a big way for her service.

“We are going to give this deserving veteran a brand new platinum roof and we are excited about it,” said Bill Carroll, production manager for Bone Dry Roofing.

This is a partnership between Owens Corning and Bone Dry Roofing under the Roof Deployment Project.

“We want to express our appreciation in a small way for the great sacrifices they have made,” said Kelly Street, Owens Corning area sales manager.

Owens Corning partners with roofers across the country to give back to veterans. LaTonya Bartholomew is the second in the Lexington area to receive a new roof.

“It is a blessing for all of us at once and we are extremely grateful,” said Bartholomew.

Bartholomew is just one of many veterans in her family. Together they were stationed in different states and served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now she and her family can enjoy a brand new roof when they return to Lexington, their home base.

“This is where we all come, my brother. When he’s in town, this is our home,” Bartholomew said.

Since the Roof Deployment Project began in 2016, more than 575 military personnel across the country have received new roofs.
