In 2020, before officially joining the WWE Raw roster, Johnny Gargano played a pivotal role in forming a group called “The Way.” Along with his wife Candice LeRae, Gargano recruited Austin Theory, Dexter Lumis, and Indi Hartwell to form a team that quickly made its presence felt in NXT.
The Way, however, had one of the shortest stints, ending in late 2021, but it is one of the most popular factions in NXT as they won the NXT North American Championship and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. At The Wrestling Classic, Gargano recently discussed whether The Way would get back together.
He really wants them to be back together, as shown by his thoughts on what he went through with that gang. According to him, one of his fondest memories of his time in NxT is actually being a member of The Way. “As a father, you always want the kids to go off and do their own thing, right? But you never know when a family reunion might happen, you never know when that might happen.
People go off and do their own thing, but at the end of the day, you’re still family. So I would never say never on a Way reunion. The Way is something I look back on very fondly; it was one of my best times in ‘NXT.’ So to do that on a bigger stage is something that always excites me a lot,” Gargano said.

Gargano also explained how the faction’s name came about, while referring to evolution and wanting to “do things my way.” In particular, he admitted that despite thousands of people comparing the famous line “This is the way” from The Mandalorian to “the way” itself, neither Triple H nor Shawn Michaels ever saw such a reasoning behind it.
Therefore, Gargano’s fans are praying for nothing less than a possible reunion of The Way and the great legacy they left with Nxt.
