Artists can submit artworks for the Artalicious auction until September 3

ADRIAN – The visual arts in Lenawee County can be enjoyed year-round, but especially in late September when one of the county’s premier outdoor arts festivals fills the streets of downtown Adrian for two days.

Artalicious Fine Arts will return to Adrian for a weekend show on September 21 and 22, 2024. Preparations for the outdoor art fair are in full swing, but committee members are still seeking support from the public.

For example, the Artalicious Silent Auction committee is looking for artists, designers and creatives to create unique artwork for this year’s Artalicious fundraising auction. Funds raised through the auction will benefit Lenawee’s youth arts programs.

Artalicious’ mission is to inspire and educate people about art while encouraging appreciation and participation in numerous art forms and cultural activities.

This year’s fundraising auction theme is “In the Garden” and focuses on the viability of the earth, said a press release from Artalicious.

“Think about types of gardens (butterfly, moonlight, rocks, sensory garden, wildlife garden, fairy garden, Japanese Zen garden, water garden, ‘The Secret Garden’, etc.) and the types of things found in gardens (watering cans, fountains, insects, animals, flowers, vegetables, trees, bird baths, bird houses, bird feeders, stepping stones). Let your imagination run wild,” said Artalicious. “Use whatever materials you like – wood, paint, clay, glass, metal, paper, fabric, mixed media, found/recycled objects, etc. Artists are encouraged to be creative.”

The 2024 auction will be hosted by the Adrian District Library, 143 E. Maumee St., downtown. The deadline for submissions of completed projects is Sept. 3. Bidding on items will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 4 and end during the Artalicious Fine Arts Fair Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.

The winners of the auction can collect their items from September 22nd at 5:00 p.m.

Festival times are September 21st from 11am to 7pm and September 22nd from 11am to 5pm. Artalicious, which turns 17 this September, is a juried art fair.

In addition to artwork such as paintings, jewelry, wood, glass, sculptures, pottery and more, Artalicious also strives to showcase other art forms including live music, stage shows and hands-on activities for children and adults.

Artalicious, located at artalicious.org, is presented with support and partnerships from Visit Lenawee, the City of Adrian, Art Work and the Michigan Arts and Culture Council.
