Wolverine becomes completely brown and light brown in the new concept art for “Deadpool & Wolverine”

The big picture

  • New concept drawings show Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the iconic comic book suits, fulfilling fans’ desire for a comic book-like look.
  • Andy Park gave a first look at the classic brown and tan suit, a nod to Jackman’s Wolverine, who faces the Hulk in the film.
  • The original Avengers almost had a cameo appearance in
    Deadpool and Wolverine
Robert Downey Jr. was initially supposed to appear, but later canceled.

Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for more than 20 years now, and one of his most iconic looks has just been spotted. Andy ParkDirector of Visual Development at Marvel Studios, has a new look at Deadpool and Wolverine concept art on his personal Instagram account. The new concept art shows Jackman’s Wolverine in the classic brown and tan comic book suit, the same one he briefly wears in the film to take on the Hulk. Wolverine fans have waited years to see Jackman in a comic book-accurate suit, and we were treated to not just one, but several iconic comic book outfits, including the classic blue and yellow, brown and tan, and even Patch, the variant of Wolverine who wears a white suit and eyepatch.

Park gave the first look at the classic John Byrne brown and light brown suit, which he wore in the early days of development for Deadpool and Wolverine. There would never have been a version of this film in the MCU without Jackman in his most famous comic book outfits, especially considering that executives at Fox rejected traditional spandex in favor of black leather for so many years. While Wolverine doesn’t wear his mask with the brown and yellow suit in the film (the mask comes in the third act with the signature blue and yellow suit), this concept art shows a version of Jackman in brown and tan, ready to take on the Hulk with a matching mask.

Wait, which of the original Avengers almost appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine?

From the first days of development, fans expected Deadpool and Wolverine to be the multiversal mashup of cameos that fans wanted to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Although the film features many characters from Fox’s Marvel Universe, none of the original six Avengers appear. However, it was recently revealed that this was not always the plan, as Robert Downey Jr. was brought in to do some readings with Reynolds and Jackman before ultimately declining to appear in the film. Both sides agreed it was a bad decision after RDJ was cast as Doctor Doom, taking over the role of Marvel’s next big villain from Kang the Conqueror.

Deadpool and Wolverine is in theaters everywhere now. Check out Park’s newly released concept art above and find tickets to the film below.
