Jacksonville woman reported missing after getting lost on way to visit family in South Carolina; car found with keys inside

ALLENDALE, SC — A Jacksonville woman was reported missing in South Carolina after authorities discovered her abandoned vehicle on a dirt road in Allendale County Tuesday night with the keys still inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jessica Rapsys, 27, was last seen on August 13 at around 7:30 or 8 p.m., according to authorities.

Officials said Rapsys got lost on the way from Jacksonville to her aunt’s house. Her aunt tried to meet her halfway, but Rapsys never showed up, Missing People in America said.

On August 14, at around 9:15 p.m., police found Rapsy’s car with the keys inside and her cellphone nearby, but they were reportedly unable to locate her.

Authorities said it was wedged across the tracks that run through the community of Martin in northwest Allendale County, Allendale County Sheriff James Freeman told WJBF. Freeman told WJBF the tracks where Rapsys’ car was found were on private property in Creek Plantation.

According to the AWARE Foundation, Rapsys is described as blonde, brown-eyed, 5’7″ tall and weighing about 100 pounds.
