There are people like my aunt who spend hundreds of dollars every year on scented candles, fancy figurines and other Christmas decorations. And although I love spending every December 25th in her beautiful house – the real Christmas trees always smell heavenly – I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’m the type of person who just kind of I like the whole idea of having a festively decorated home, but I refuse to spend too much time or money on it. The solution? Daiso. Because they have everything and everything costs $2.
From DIY Christmas decorations to Rudolph outfits for your dog, here are 9 Christmas decorations from Daiso that you didn’t know you needed.
9 Christmas decorations from Daiso
1. Mini Christmas trees (& mini Christmas tree decorations)
While Daiso doesn’t have large, standing Christmas trees—don’t worry, we have a separate article on where to buy those—they do have small ones for the table. At $2, they’re perfect for small decorations.
And while they’re not particularly fancy or anything, it’s fun that they sell mini baubles, wreaths, and other Christmas decorations that you can use to spruce up your little tree, too.
2. Christmas costumes for children (& dogs)
If your child has a Christmas party to attend, Daiso sells affordable Christmas outfits for kids. In addition to the usual headbands and Santa hats, there are also Santarina capes.
And if your child is more of the fluffy four-legged variety, then he or she can join in as Rudolph.
Daiso also sells wavy AND straight Santa beards, which I personally find hilarious.
3. Christmas Washi Tape
Stationery lovers will love these rolls of cute Christmas washi tapes! They’re sold per roll ($2), so they’re not cheap. Similar tapes are usually sold in sets of 5 and also cost around $10.
4. Christmas aluminum foil (& other disposable tableware)
At first I didn’t know who would need patterned aluminum foil. But then I remembered that there are countless moms whose life’s work is to outdo other moms, and I suppose those are the people these festive foils are for. $2 seems like a good price, but the roll is actually very small and if you’re hosting a party, you’ll probably need several boxes.
To match the chic aluminum foil, Daiso offers thematically matching disposable plates, cups and napkins.
5. DIY Christmas decoration
This one might be my favorite of all – it’s a homemade snowman ornament! I’ve always loved Daiso’s animal felting kits and was thrilled that they’ve released a special Christmas edition of it. It comes with a hanging string so you can hang your creation on your Christmas tree.
Apart from these fun items, Daiso also has the usual Christmas decorations such as (large) baubles, wreaths, Christmas tree toppers and more.
6. Christmas balls
These balls are actually quite affordable ($2 for 6). IKEA sells 32 balls for $16.90, which is 1.5 times the price.
7. Garlands
There are also garlands that you can wrap around the Christmas tree. I’m not usually a fan of these, but I was pleasantly surprised that Daiso’s designs weren’t as garish as garlands usually are. I especially like this silver candy cane garland.
8. Fairy lights
They also have string lights that cost $2 per 1.5m. They are quite short, so a standard size tree will need 3 to 4 boxes. If you’re considering that, you might be better off with a 10m roll from Lazada – they cost around $8.
9. Festive gift bags
Too lazy to wrap your presents? Then grab a festive gift bag and you’re good to go. No crafting skills are required. They cost $2 per pack and each pack contains a different number of bags depending on the size and design.
