Show report & photos: The Last Dinner Party hosts a gorgeous final night of their tour at the Fonda Theatre Hollywood

The last dinner party ended their tour at the Fonda Theater in characteristically spectacular fashion, leaving fans rapt and aglow after their ravishing baroque anthems. Despite only having one album under their belt, the audience was essentially treated to a cover-to-cover performance of Prelude to ecstasyincluding the live debut of three unreleased songs: “Second best”, “Big Dog”, And “The murderer.”

Unleashing overtures of wild lust, tragic love and breathless pathos, part of the joy of seeing The Last Dinner Party live is being overwhelmed by the sonic force of their songs. With blistering riffs, simmering bass lines and melodies that tremble and shake with unbridled passion, their explosive performance at the Fonda was impossible to escape.

At the centre of this stormy storm was Abigail Morrisher voice was a lightning rod for the emotional high points of The Last Dinner Party, appearing as a graceful swirl of melodramatic gestures as she danced from band member to band member. It’s one of the countless reasons why this band is a stunner live: every single one of them takes the spotlight, whether singing or playing electrifying instrumentals.

Let us take for example “Sinner,” a song that captures the tremendous range of talent required to conjure up this thunderous tune. Emily Roberts breaking out into a rousing riff; Lizzie Mayland‘s guitar and Georgina Davis‘ Bass a frenetic tangle; Aurora Nizhevci They take the lead in the silence with their glowing voices while their bandmates coo in the background. Their charm and charisma on stage are more than intoxicating. And if not every soul in the Fonda was enamored with them at the beginning of their set, they were by the end.

Proof of their ability to inspire their audience to make grand romantic gestures came during their encore, when Morris invited two fans on stage to propose marriage, which elicited as much joy and tears from the audience as any of their songs. They then closed the evening with the appropriately passionate “Nothing is important”, and howls out its passionate chorus in honor of the newly engaged couple.

King Isis The early arrivals at the Fonda rocked out and won over the crowd with the pure emotion of their music. They played songs from their Barrack EP and their new single “Dissonance,” they definitely won more than a few fans that night. Towards the end of her set she brought out the loud rockers and King Isis started wailing and melting faces. She was also joined by The Last Dinner Party for her final song – a favor she returned at the end of the night – giving the whole show the celebratory vibe that the last night of a tour should have.
