A United Airlines (UAL) Flight had to abort a transatlantic journey shortly after departure from San Francisco on Tuesday. The aircraft, an older model from Boeing (BA) 777 was supposed to fly to Rome, but didn’t even make it out of the state.

“United Airlines Flight 507 landed safely at Sacramento International Airport in California at approximately 5:50 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 13, after the crew reported a possible engine problem,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement. a short report on this topic on the page “Statements on aviation accidents and incidents”.

The aircraft tracking website FlightAware says that the plane returned to San Francisco later that same day and on Wednesday with a flight to Italy’s Leonardo da Vinci airport in Fiumicino.

The reason for the flight to Rome was not immediately clear, but earlier this year the FAA brought additional control about United’s activities following a particularly eventful March.

“Over the next few weeks, we will see an increased FAA presence in our operations as they begin to review some of our work processes, manuals and facilities,” Sasha Johnson, United’s vice president of corporate safety, wrote in an email to company employees.

In May, the FAA withdrew somewhatand referred to “a careful review and discussion of the proactive safety measures United has taken to date.”
