The postponement due to rain could not dampen the mood at the National Night Out celebration in Middletown Township, which was postponed to Tuesday evening.

A sizeable crowd gathered at the Middletown Township Municipal Complex to view over 70 vendors, meet emergency responders, see Sesame Place characters, play games and visit community groups.

There were demonstrations of police motorcycles, a demonstration of fire department rescue vehicles and a flyover by the Philadelphia Police Department helicopter unit.

Falls Township and Penndel Borough also held their postponed events on Tuesday.

Bristol Borough Police will hold their rescheduled event on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Snyder-Girotti Elementary School.

Established in 1984, National Night Out is designed to promote community-police partnerships, strengthen neighborhood cohesion, and provide crime prevention education. The annual event is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August and attracts approximately 38 million visitors in the United States, Canada, and American military installations worldwide.
