LeBron James loved throwback photos of Tyrese Haliburton wearing his old jerseys

Tyrese Haliburton returns to the United States as a gold medalist after helping the U.S. team win the men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He also comes back with plenty of stories about playing basketball with his childhood heroes.

Haliburton’s mother, Brenda Haliburton, sent him photos of him as a child wearing a couple of old LeBron James jerseys Tuesday morning. In one photo, Haliburton wore a LeBron Eastern Conference All-Star jersey and in the other, a No. 23 St. Vincent-St. Mary High School jersey that James wore when he played for the Irish from 1999-2003.

James spoke out on social media after seeing the photos himself.

Haliburton also shared a photo of himself wearing the U.S. team jersey with Kevin Durant No. 5 and posted it alongside a picture of himself chatting with KD during the Olympics.

Haliburton was reportedly battling a minor league injury during the Games, as he was only able to play in three games and averaged 2.7 points and 0.7 assists per game. But he kept a positive attitude about it, poking fun at himself on social media for barely contributing to the U.S. team’s gold medal performance.

Now Haliburton will rest and begin preparing for his fifth NBA season – his third full season with the Indiana Pacers after leading them to the Eastern Conference finals last year.
