Jerrin Thompson’s leadership role, healthy competition in the RB area

After the 2023 season, the Auburn football program has lost several members of its secondary, and it was one of the most important position groups to recruit in the offseason. Former Texans safety Jerrin Thompson was one of the first transfers in which to the Tigers and announced his commitment in early January.

Thompson spent four years with the Longhorns, and his talent wasn’t the only thing he brought to the Plains. His previous experiences made it easy for him to take on a leadership role on his team, especially with the younger DBs in the group.

Thompson’s teammates described him as a highly dedicated individual who gives instructions to everyone on every play and leads by example on and off the field.

“I’m proud of that,” Thompson said of his voice. according to The Montgomery Advertiser. “One thing that I feel is my strength is my instincts and my ability to communicate and make the guys around me less stressed. I’m very proud of that. Knowing that, communicating and knowing my teammates is something that is very important to me and that dictates the way I work.”

Second running back Jeremiah Cobb has had numerous opportunities to enter the transfer portal since joining the Tigers. Given the trade from Bryan Harsin to Hugh Freeze and the level of talent surrounding Cobb at the position group, it would be easy to understand Cobb moving in search of more playing time.

But even though it was not easy to work with people like Senior Jarquez Hunter and junior Damari Alston. Cobb appreciates the competition between the trio and says they constantly push each other to be better.
