The Dilworth Tasting Room team will open its third location on Tuesday, a 40,000-square-foot space on Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood.

Located across the street from the large Commonwealth development currently under construction where Midwood Commons used to be, the new Dilworth Tasting Room will include 103 indoor seats, 72 outdoor seats, 17 seats at the bar and a private event room for gatherings or meetings of up to 70 people, according to a press release sent out Friday.

The Mediterranean-style dinner menu, created by Chef Jonathan Shuler, includes Šopska salad, crni rižot (traditional Croatian squid ink risotto), grilled octopus, fried calamari, seared tuna, Croatian kebabs, skampi buzara (traditional Croatian shrimp dish), chicken breast, cevapcici and lamb chops.

DTR Plaza Midwood’s cocktail menu includes classics, a rotating seasonal cocktail list and numerous non-alcoholic options curated by bar manager Alejandro Ibanez, the press release said.

The interior will feature an “elegant Art Deco-modern design” that includes murals by local artist Meredith Riggins, Croatian artwork and an old-school horse-drawn carriage on the garden-like terrace.

“We started Dilworth Tasting Room in 2017 as a humble wine shop offering salads, flatbreads and cheese boards,” owners Zoe and Jaffer Kovic said in Friday’s press release. “As the neighborhood has flourished, so has demand for a broader culinary offering. In response, we’ve upgraded our equipment, created innovative cocktails and expanded our menu.”

“This transformation has transformed DTR into a culinary destination that now has three distinct locations throughout Charlotte,” they continued. “We are very proud to be a locally grown company, nestled in the vibrant and fun neighborhoods of Charlotte, where we can bring a piece of our Croatian heritage along with inspiration from our Mediterranean travels to create a distinctive culinary experience at each DTR location.”

The first Dilworth Tasting Room opened in 2017 on Tremont Avenue in the neighborhood of the same name and is consistently recognized by Queen City Nerve readers in our annual “Best in the Nest” issue. The SouthPark location followed in 2021 in the former Corkbuzz space.

In addition to the Mediterranean menu and selection of house-made cocktails, each location offers an extensive wine list curated by owner and sommelier Jaffer Kovic.

DTR Plaza Midwood is open Monday through Wednesday from 3pm-10pm, Thursday from 3pm-11pm, Friday from 3pm-midnight, Saturday from noon-midnight and Sunday from 11am-8pm. The team plans to introduce brunch and the popular Flight Night at this location in September.
