The pet rescue story of The Young and the Restless star J. Eddie Peck

To Shadow of PassionCole has his hands full trying to deal with the chaos his Aunt Jordan has caused. Although he’s a hero on the show, it turns out that his portrayer, J. Eddie Peck, is also a hero in real life.

He advocates finding a home for dogs

Recently, Y&R star J. Eddie Peck (Cole) posted a flyer and a selfie of himself with his golden retriever, Ben, on Instagram, writing, “Shelters across the country will be holding a Clear the Shelters 10th Anniversary event today, August 10th. Check with your local shelter for times. Sonya and I will be at the Castaic Animal Shelter tomorrow from 11am-3pm if anyone from the area wants to join us. Animal adoptions, food trucks, giveaways. Hope to see some of you there.” The flyer attracted people to join her “pups” trying to find homes for dogs, and Peck has become a huge advocate for her cause. (Find out how Cole and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) got back together.)

That same day, he also posted pictures on Instagram of himself and a dog named Milo, for whom he had been looking for a home, and captioned them, “UPDATE ON MILO. Thank you all for your warm congratulations for Milo.” He was on the euthanasia list at our local shelter due to overcrowding. The wonderful staff at Castaic Animal Care Center in Santa Clarita graciously heard our pleas to delay his final day.”

Peck explained that he and his wife Sonya took in Milo and temporarily adopted him until a permanent home was found for him.

Fans praised his efforts

Peck detailed how he met Milo, writing, “I visited him a few times at the shelter. He was polite but distracted. It was (obvious) that he had had enough and was craving a change of scenery. The more time we spent together on his first day, the more we learned to love him.” He was glad he took the time to find a beautiful home for Milo, saying, “Milo is a gem, just as the shelter staff promised.” He described how many dogs and cats slated for euthanasia are worthy of adoption, not only at the Castaic Animal Shelter, but at similar shelters across the U.S.

Fans from all over the world praised Peck and his wife for their work and assured him that Milo would soon find a home. Many of the responses were heartfelt, with one writing, “Oh tears. This is beautiful. What a good, sweet boy. God bless you and your wife for saving this beautiful soul.” The praise continued, with another fan responding, “I am so happy for Milo and so thankful for you both… for saving his life and the lives of other wonderful dogs.”

We are excited about the wonderful work Peck does to save animals in need!
