Toy Story fans change their minds about new sequel after learning what the plot will be

You’ve probably heard that a new Toy Story is coming out soon after waiting what feels like an eternity since the last episode.

Yes, you heard right, the highly anticipated Toy Story 5 will be on our screens as early as June 2026 – seven years after Toy Story 4 published in 2019.

The popular film series is arguably one of Pixar’s greatest achievements, but after fans learned what the plot would be, their opinions about the upcoming sequel were obviously quite divided.

The concern about the next part of the franchise was due to the fact that the end of Toy Story 4, was, well, perfect.

If you need to refresh your memory, Toy Story 4 Woody and Little Bo Peep played a major role; the toys were found at a fair years after they were given away.

In an emotional farewell, Woody leaves the other toys behind – and Buzz assures him that their child will be fine without him.

Numerous fans shared their concerns on social media, with one X-user writing: “I’m confused? Woody stayed at the fair with Bo Peep right? How does he get back to them?”

A second agreed: “Where is Bo Peep? I thought Woody left his friends to be with her.”

“Mind you Toy Story 4 ended with Woody leaving his family behind to live a child-free life with Bo Peep,” wrote another. “Now the first look at TS5 and Woody is back with the gang, no Bo Peep in sight and the garbage fork in the background. We’ve lost the plot so much.”

And a final X-user echoed, “So Woody just moves back into the gang after going on tour with Bo Peep to start his new life and just drops everything to move back in with Bonnie?”

However, while some felt that the franchise should have ended there, others were excited by the plot details surrounding a certain “iPad kid” for whom the toys’ competition with electronics apparently makes the whole thing worthwhile.

“WAIT PEOPLE, THE ACTUAL ACTION FOR TOY STORY 5 IS THIS ABOUT iPad KIDS ARE BAD?!?!?! I THOUGHT EVERYONE WAS KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” shouted one fan of the concept.

A second tweeted: “I hate bad sequels as much as anyone, but the thought of Toy Story 5 Having a plot about an iPad kid who doesn’t play with toys anymore is pretty damn creative.”

“People complain about Toy Story 5 but the plot is about the toys competing against the iPads lol,” a third chimed in. “I won’t watch it but yeah the plot resonates well with today’s youth.”

And a final X-user added: “I’m actually very excited about Toy Story 5.

“This storyline is actually super sad because it’s true. Technology is taking over toys.”
