Boss Team Games is working on titles based on Halloween, John Carpenter involved

According to a new report from IGN, Boss Team Games is working on two new titles based on the 1978 classic Halloween film.

One of the games is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and features direct contributions from the original film’s legendary director, John Carpenter.

In the IGN report, Carpenter says, “As an avid gamer myself, I’m thrilled to bring Michael Myers back to life in this game and hope to scare the crap out of you.”

Fans may know Boss Team Games as the publisher of Evil Dead: The Game. Saber Interactive announced that the game’s content cycle will end in September 2023.

The Boss Team Games title, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, is still “in early development.” Today’s new report also reveals that players will “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters.” Details about the second game were not given in the IGN report.

Boss Team Games will develop both titles based on the popular intellectual property along with Compass International Pictures and Further Front.

Halloween 1978 remains an iconic horror film, and among horror games, Michael Myers appeared in Dead by Daylight. However, this chapter first appeared almost a decade ago in 2016 as the very first paid DLC.

Most recently, Blumhouse Productions delivered a new trilogy of Halloween films that ignored the canon following the original film.
