At the request of the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating a shooting in Gordon County, GA. One man was injured.

On July 7, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the GBI was requested by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation of a shooting that occurred at a large venue rented as an Airbnb in Fairmount, Georgia. The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office received calls about the event and complaints about loud music. When officers arrived, they discovered a man who had been shot and injured.

The victim was shot in the large gravel parking lot next to the main house. There were several people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. During the course of the investigation, GBI agents learned that the party the victim attended had been posted on Snapchat and shared multiple times. Most of the partygoers did not know each other. GBI agents interviewed witnesses and determined that approximately 150 to 200 people attended the party after seeing it on social media.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.

No arrests have been made so far.

The GBI is asking anyone who may have attended this party between July 6 and July 7, 2024, or who has video or information related to the shooting to submit anonymous tips by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online at https://gbi.georgia.gov/submit-tips-online, or by downloading the “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.

Once the investigation is complete, the file will be turned over to the Gordon County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
