One person and a gunman are dead after Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump was dragged from the stage with blood on his face and ear by the Secret Service at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, on July 13, 2024. He had previously died from gunfire.
The incident occurred just two days before the start of the Republican National Convention on July 15, 2024 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Photos show how the rally in Pennsylvania turned into a crime scene.
“And then the worst president in the history of our country took power, and look what happened to our country,” Trump said before the shooting. “If you really want to see something sad, look at what happened.” Before Trump could finish his sentence, shots rang out. Trump grabbed him by the ear and was pulled to the ground by the Secret Service.
Photos and videos showed the former president with blood pouring from his ear into his face as he was led off the stage and police officers filed into the crowd. Trump was reported unharmed. Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told reporters the shooter was dead.
