GTA 6 release date gets the green light, but there’s bad news for Xbox fans | Gaming | Entertainment

After recently confirming that GTA 6’s release date will not be affected by the SAG-AFTRA voice actor strikes, there’s more good news for Grand Theft Auto fans. In a recent quarterly earnings call, Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two revealed the launch plans for GTA 6. With fans worried the game could be delayed until 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the upcoming open-world crime game remains on schedule for a fall 2025 release date. “The Grand Theft Auto series has exceeded our expectations as momentum continues to build ahead of the fall 2025 release of Grand Theft Auto VI,” Take-Two said in a statement. Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, especially for Grand Theft Auto fans on Xbox.

With Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releasing on day one on Game Pass, Zelnick was asked if consumer behavior will change and how that will impact Take-Two’s future plans.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.Biz, Zelnick said that day-one releases for subscription services are only of short-term benefit.

“I think offering a top title at a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will drive consumers to that subscription service, at least for a while,” Zelnick said.

It goes without saying that Zelnick and Take-Two have no plans to change their minds about GTA 6 possibly being offered as a subscription service at launch.

“No, it will not affect our decisions,” Zelnick continued. “Because our decisions are rational.”

Ouch!

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonidas, which is located in Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI comes to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-drenched streets of Vice City and beyond, in the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer gives fans an aerial look at some of the map locations. These include locations based on the Florida Keys as well as the beach and more.

Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the locations and some gameplay in the next GTA 6 trailer, which is rumored to be released on October 4th.
