NEW DELHI: Italian super-luxury carmaker Lamborghini Automobiles expects exponential growth in India with the potential to become a top market in the Asia-Pacific Region long-term, driven by Customers which, according to a senior company official, are the youngest in the world. “In terms of volume, India ranks 14th in the world and sixth in Asia Pacific. In percentage terms, it is the fastest growing market,” Scardaoni told PTI.
In 2023, Lamborghini crossed the 10,000 unit mark globally and at the same time, the company crossed the 100 car mark in India. In the first half of 2024, global deliveries still recorded year-on-year growth and India is witnessing a similar trend, he added.
Last year, China was Lamborghini’s largest market in the Asia-Pacific region with 845 units, followed by Japan (660), Korea (434), Australia (263) and Taiwan (131).
When asked how far India could rise in the ranking of the region’s most important markets, Scardaoni replied: “There is still a long way to go before we reach the third, second and first positions, but we believe that this is possible for a country like India in the long term. I am convinced that India can grow very quickly in the medium term.”
He further said, “We believe that India has all the right indicators that make us believe that there will indeed be exponential growth.”
When asked when Lamborghini could cross the 150-unit annual sales mark in India, he said, “My wish would be 2026. That would be my wish, when will it happen.”
He explained the reasons for the company’s optimistic attitude towards India: “It has to do with the economy. It is the fastest growing Business in the world and it is also important to see that the customers here in India are the youngest among the global customers.”
He continued: “India is a country of Start-upsTherefore, many young customers come from new economy start-ups. India has become an incubator for start-ups.”
The average age of Indian Lamborghini customers is below 40 years, while in top markets like the US and Europe it is between 40 and 45 years.
In addition, Scardaoni said, the Indian government is making great efforts to develop the country’s roads and infrastructure.
“We are seeing an amazing trend towards the development and connection of major cities through new highways, these are huge projects. We believe that the supercar market will get an even greater boost once these infrastructures are completed,” he added.

Regarding current demand from India, he said: “We are in a fairly stable situation in India, production is well covered until 2025.”
