NEW MARTINSVILLE – A First Friday Art Walk is planned for September 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown New Martinsville.

Organizer Heather Wetzel Parks, owner of The Book Store, has already signed up several artists and vendors to participate, but is still looking for more. Artists, crafters, writers, musicians and others who would like to participate can call her at 304-455-5080.

“Main Street will be blocked off from the corner of North to Jefferson with five writers and over 16 artists/craftspeople from across the Ohio Valley,” she said.

“A wide variety of goods are available for sale: soy candles and wax melts, jewelry, prints of original watercolors and acrylic paintings, body care products, wire sculptures, batik, car charms and keychains, and more.

“Your food options will of course include Baristas, Dos Hermanos and Stalder’s, but Black Bear Kitchen and VanCamp Farm’s Blizzard Bites will also be represented.

Children can create art at the Kid’s Art Space, sponsored by Peoples Bank and Hero Plumbing. And The BubbleWagon will be there, too.

According to Wetzel Parks, the set-up is free for the vendors. The vendors are invited to demonstrate their crafts, sell their original art, teach a class, read their poetry and more, she said.
