Desiree Miller’s anthology, 101 True Stories from the Terminal: Wild, Crazy and Wonderful Stories That Will Sweep You Away (Braughler Books), was inspired by a social media post she wrote about her funny interactions at the Atlanta airport while waiting for her flight to Dayton, Ohio, for the 2022 Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop. She was so determined to “find them funny” that she didn’t realize she had plans for an entire book about funny things even before the workshop began.
“More than one friend has told me that an entire book could be written about the funny interactions many of us seem to have while going about our business at the airport,” she writes in the book. “If you’re not the type to put on headphones and retreat into your own world, you’re bound to hear something that makes you laugh.”
From heartwarming reunions to chance encounters that change lives forever, 101 True Stories from the Terminal is a captivating collection of stories celebrating the magic and wonder of flight, where lives intersect for a brief moment and fates collide, for better or for worse.
The book’s contributors include five writers from the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop community: John Branning, Rajean Blomquist, Karen Bucci, Ginger Claremohr, and January Gordon Ornellas.
Miller is an award-winning author with a passion for travel and storytelling. She plans trips and hosts a weekly podcast called Time to Talk Travel.
