The Big Bang Theory Star Kaley Cuoco was devastated when she lost her role in Netflix’s Knife out Sequel with Daniel Craig. Known for her role as Penny and her Emmy-nominated performance in The flight attendant, The actress was deeply disheartened to lose a coveted role alongside the former James Bond Star in the crime thriller.
Although she was confident of getting the role in the film, Cuoco was devastated to learn that she had lost what could have been a huge opportunity for her film career to Kate Hudson.
Kaley Cuoco revealed her heartbreak when she lost her most important film role to Kate Hudson
After finishing her stint on the CBS sitcom, Kaley Cuoco threw herself into a number of new roles, including a possible role in the 2022 film Glass Onion: A Knives Out crime thriller.
In a previous interview with Glamour, the actress revealed that she was in the running for the role of Birdie Jay, which ultimately went to Kate Hudson. Cuoco described going through several phases, from chemistry readings to Zoom calls.
And she was very confident about getting the role. “I was convinced (that the role was mine),” she said, adding: “I was so convinced that my bags were packed for Greece.”
Cuoco admitted that she usually handles rejection well, but this particular loss hit her hard. “I was so devastated” she said and explained: “I cried all night. And it was for Kate.”
She further shared:
I mean, that devastated me. And I thought, I’m fired up, like, I’m going to get it no matter what. And they said, “No, we’re going to take Kate.”“
She also expressed her disappointment at not getting the role as it would have been a huge opportunity for her to share the screen with some of the most famous actors like Daniel Craig and Edward Norton.

Later in the interview, Kaley Cuoco was asked if she had been told the reason why she had turned down the role over Kate Hudson. The actress revealed that she had not been given a reason for the rejection.
But even though he lost the role to the Oscar-nominated actress, Cuoco bore no grudge against her. “Knives is going to be great and Kate is great,” Cuoco said before adding: “She should do it.”
Cuoco also expressed optimism about her future opportunities and hoped to audition for the third installment in the franchise. “Maybe I can audition for the third one,” she told Glamour in an interview.
Knife out is a popular crime film series in which Daniel Craig investigates and solves mysteries in the role of detective Benoit Blanc. The previous films received positive reviews.
A third part of the franchise entitled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Crime Story, is in production. Craig will reprise his role as Benoit Blanc alongside an ensemble cast including Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner and Glenn Close.
