Shooting at house party in Horizon City: One person is hospitalized; investigation ongoing

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — A shooting in a Horizon City neighborhood saw people fleeing a house party.

“One of them was bleeding,” said Luis Ramirez, a witness. “I think she was a little panicked.”

Authorities said the shooting at a home in the Desert Bush area happened just before midnight Friday. In surveillance footage from a neighbor, people can be seen running from the scene while others help someone walk away from the scene. A Horizon City official told us at least one person was taken to the hospital. Ramirez — who was outside when the shooting happened next door — reported what he saw.

Some run, some cry. Some are a bit hysterical, which I can understand.

Several neighbors reported seeing young people running down the street in both directions. Some hid in driveways or behind cars, others got into their vehicles and drove away.

“After that, I saw some kids just running away,” Ramirez added.

Ramirez said his thoughts quickly turned to the safety of his son, who has special needs.

“I was worried about my son. Because my son was inside. Did something happen, did something fly through the window?”

The condition of the female victim, who was taken to the hospital, is unknown. A Horizon City official said officers responded to a noise complaint in the same area where the shooting occurred and their investigation is ongoing.
