A 13-minute delivery that went viral
Gupta shared his experience on X (formerly Twitter), where he posted live updates on his purchase. While attending a meeting at Starbucks, he decided to order a laptop through Flipkart’s recently launched ‘Flipkart Minutes’ service, which promises delivery within 15 minutes in select areas of Bengaluru. To his surprise, the Acer Predator laptop, which costs between Rs 95,000 and Rs 2.5 lakh, was delivered to him in just 13 minutes. Gupta’s amazement was evident in his posts, which quickly garnered millions of views, likes and reposts.
“I was just looking for a new laptop and noticed this 15-minute delivery option on Flipkart. I thought this would be more convenient than waiting a day for the usual delivery,” Gupta shared in his post. “To my amazement, the laptop arrived in 13 minutes while I was still at Starbucks.”
Flipkart’s gesture of appreciation
In response to the furor that Gupta’s post had generated, Flipkart reached out to him with a gesture of appreciation. The e-commerce giant gifted him a laptop bag as a thank you for the unexpected publicity his experience generated. Gupta clarified that his original post was not part of a marketing campaign, but simply his honest reaction to the service.
“I would like to stress that this was not a planned advertisement or a marketing gimmick. The posts were purely my personal experiences shared out of genuine surprise and excitement,” Gupta wrote on X. “However, I enjoyed the attention it brought me and Flipkart offered me a laptop bag for all the excitement.”
Internet users react
Gupta’s story quickly became a sensation on social media, with many users expressing surprise and amusement at the speed of delivery. One user commented, “Getting a laptop delivered in 13 minutes is insane! Indian quick commerce is on steroids!” Another added, “Quick commerce needs to relax a bit. Who is in a hurry to get a new laptop delivered to their home in less than 10 minutes!?”
Others shared their own experiences with quick commerce services, while others expressed skepticism about the sustainability of such speedy deliveries. “India is really hitting the jackpot in quick commerce. Not sure if it can continue in the future, but kudos for what is happening,” noted one user.
Despite the mixed reactions, there was an overall sense of amazement at the possibilities of modern e-commerce in India. Gupta’s experience not only underscored the efficiency of Flipkart’s new service, but also sparked a broader discussion about the future of fast commerce in the country.
