Meghan Markle celebrates her 43rd birthday this weekend, August 4, and will likely celebrate with Prince Harry and her two young children, as well as her mother Doria Ragland.
However, the Duchess of Sussex has previously revealed that she also takes some time for herself on her special day, as she has a personal birthday ritual that she likes to perform every year.
Before Meghan closed her popular blog The Tig in 2017, she gave her followers a glimpse into her life, including her annual reflections and resolutions. OK! reports on it.
In a heartfelt post from 2016, the same year her romance with Prince Harry began, the former Suits star revealed: “My mum always said birthdays are your very own New Year.”
She elaborated on her mother’s wisdom, adding, “Your own chance to make resolutions just for yourself and make your predictions for the coming year.”
Meghan then outlined her goals for the coming year, expressing a desire for: “More surprises, more adventures, more opportunities to grow, more days filled with giggles and cheeky jokes, more delicious meals and more inspiration. Always more inspiration.”
At the time of this blog post, Meghan was dating Harry and their famous third date in Botswana took place about five weeks before her birthday.

But a lot has changed for the former actress and although little is known about her plans for celebrating her 43rd birthday, she will likely enjoy a quiet day in the sun at her Montecito mansion with Harry and her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, speculated to OK! magazine that Meghan would probably prefer a quiet day with her loved ones.
Prince Archie may even be responsible for preparing the birthday waffles, after the late Queen gave him a waffle iron for Christmas.
In the past, Meghan has traditionally used her birthdays to raise awareness for causes close to her heart. On her 40th birthday, she launched the 40×40 project with a fun video in which she asked 40 of her friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to support women getting back into work.
Experts say the Duchess strategically uses the public interest generated by these important events for charitable purposes.
The theory goes that Meghan is aware that celebrating milestones like her birthday draws attention to her, and she tries to use that spotlight to draw focus to things that are important to her.
