“I tried the classic British student sandwich – I can’t believe people actually eat that.”

A foodie was baffled by a classic British dish he had “never heard of”.

The Pot Noodle Sandwich, a popular and inexpensive lunchtime snack, turned out to be a culinary disaster for content creator Dismal Dinners.

In the latest episode of his series “Dismal Dinners,” the TikToker wondered why the pot noodle sandwich was even “a thing” before attempting to make one himself.

They were not impressed with the result and wondered why the public liked this unusual sandwich combination. “How long has it been around? And who invented it?” were just some of the questions that Dismal Dinners asked its viewers.

He went on to ask, “Does anyone actually like this thing or is this just a psychological stunt by Heston Blumenthal to get us to eat his stuff? I don’t know.” According to a post on The Student Room, the Pot Noodle Sandwich has become a staple of student diets, and James May has even sampled the sandwich on his YouTube channel.

While some praised the sandwich’s simplicity, Dismal Dinners was appalled and wondered if anyone actually liked the creation, noting, “Once you come to terms with the fact that the sandwich is jaundiced, you pick it up with one hand and realize you can’t pick it up with one hand. You have to pick it up with both hands and take a big salty bite and wonder where the flavor went.”

“Where did the flavor go? You had to pour the flavor out so the sandwich wouldn’t get soggy, and the flavor is gone.” Although Dismal Dinners wasn’t impressed, its supporters stood behind the food innovation and offered suggestions on how to keep the filling intact.

“Butter the bread, but use a slice that you fold into a sandwich,” advised one follower, noting, “That way the contents won’t fall out as easily.” Another user recommended, “Take a sandwich AND an instant noodle and dip the sandwich in it, that’s the real trick.”

One even suggested a more radical approach: cutting out bread and water altogether. “The best way to eat instant noodles is dry,” they claimed. To which Dismal Dinners responded: “That’s absurd.”
