In August, David Osborn, the new men’s basketball coach at Trinity Christian College, brought together basketball players from across the country.
A major restructure is coming for the Trolls, who went 6-22 overall and 1-19 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference last season. Trinity’s 2024-2025 season begins Nov. 1.
The star player in Osborne’s August haul is Jalen Brown, a 5-foot-10 junior guard who played last season at Niagara, an NCAA Division I program. Brown, a De La Salle graduate, began his career with the Purple Eagles as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. He appeared in seven games for the Purple Eagles over two seasons.
Brown was a teammate last season with former Brother Rice star player Ahmad Henderson, who has since transferred to UIC.
Other players coming to Trinity include Marcus Green, who averaged 17 points and made 57% of his shots last season for Chaffey College, a junior college program in California that averaged 101 points per game.
Marcus Friend, a Troy graduate, is making his fifth college appearance. Friend holds a master’s degree in business administration.
Donavyn Sayles, who played at Kishwaukee and Rockford Christian, is a 6-foot-10 forward.
Twins Jacob and Silas Spaulding transferred from Franklin College’s Division III program. Both scored more than 1,000 points during their high school careers at Eastern Hancock in Charlottesville, Indiana.
Also joining the Trolls are Kaden Eirhart, a freshman from Westminster College in Missouri, Tylan Harris, a native of Indianapolis, and Mac Parmelee, a freshman from McHenry County College.
