Green Fruits and Coalmar sign cooperation agreement and expect 120 million kilos of citrus fruits

Green Fruits and Coalmar, both cooperative members of the Anecoop Group, have signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of increasing their competitiveness and promoting their products.

Green Fruits, based in the municipality of Oliva, will manage Coalmar’s citrus fruit, approximately 5 million kilos. This means that Green Fruits’ citrus volume for the coming season is expected to reach 120 million kilos.

Coalmar, on the other hand, whose facilities are located in Llombai, will continue to specialise in persimmons and stone fruit, which account for 72% and 6% of production respectively.

Regarding this agreement, the president of Green Fruits, Josep Vicent Salort, says: “In the six years of Green Fruits’ activity, it has been shown that cooperation between cooperatives in the agricultural sector, regardless of the formula, leads to significant growth and greater efficiency in the management and marketing of our products in all markets.”

Coalmar President Salvador Cardete expressed his satisfaction after the signing. “This cooperation agreement strengthens us in an increasingly competitive global market and leads us to a more efficient approach in the management of our crops and assets. Both companies, Green Fruits and Coalmar, are the result of integration and merger projects between cooperatives, so we already know the benefits that such an initiative brings.”

Green Fruits, Anecoop’s main citrus partner, was created in April 2018. It was the result of the merger of three fruit and vegetable companies: Cooperativa Citrícola de La Safor, from Gandía; SAT Novacitrus, from Oliva; and the Alicante-based Cooperativa Agrícola de Pego, which decided to join forces to optimize their management and growth. In 2021, Copal, based in Algemesí, also joined, and in October 2022 the company approved the creation of Alzicoop. In June 2023, the cooperative continued its development process with a collaboration agreement with Soex2.

Coalmar is the result of the merger of the cooperatives Agrícola del Marquesado from Llombai and San Salvador from Alfarp, both also members of Anecoop, which launched this project in the 2022/2023 financial year.
