At the 2024 WWE Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Canada, John Cena announced his impending retirement from professional wrestling. With his upcoming farewell tour, Cena expressed his desire to compete in the United Kingdom next year.
WrestleMania, WWE’s big annual event known for its impressive show and worldwide popularity, could take place in London. London Mayor Sadiq Khan is keen to host it in the British capital.
John Cena even showed up at Money in the Bank in London last year to make it clear that WrestleMania should be held in the city. We also reported on WWE’s willingness to host WrestleMania in London.
It has also been reported that WWE is currently discussing holding WrestleMania in London. In fact, even Triple H has revealed the reason why WWE is considering London as the venue for the next WrestleMania.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, John Cena expressed his desire for UK dates to be part of his farewell tour. He cited the strong support WWE has received from both the UK and Canada and reiterated his belief that London deserves to host WrestleMania. Although he will not have a match in London in 2025, Cena remains hopeful for future WrestleMania events there and plans to attend as a fan if it happens.
“I really hope so. As you know, I’m retiring from in-ring appearances next year. We’ll start in January and have our last fight in December 2025. I really hope that part of that farewell includes some dates in the UK. I meant what I said and I said the same thing in Canada. The UK and Canada have been such strong supporters of WWE through thick and thin. I’ve been pushing for WrestleMania to be in London because I think London has absolutely earned the right to host the grandest stage of all. Nick Khan and Triple H were just there talking to the Mayor of London. Hopefully, I don’t know, it works out and maybe there’s WrestleMania in London in the future. It’s not going to happen in 2025, so unfortunately I won’t have a fight there, but if it does, I’ll definitely be there as a fan..”
We also reported that WWE is already considering opponents for John Cena and he even has an interesting idea for a tag team partner. It remains to be seen how Cena’s farewell tour will go, as fans can’t wait to enjoy his final year as a pro wrestler.
