In January, the Bravosphere was rocked by the news that Shannon Beador And John Janssen had broken up. Real Housewives of Orange County fans weren’t exactly surprised that the relationship didn’t work out, considering it was toxic. But more so the fact that Shannon went through with the breakup even though it meant she’d be back in the dating pond. The duo had a questionable relationship at best. John was often MIA when it came to filming scenes together. And when he was filmed, he seemed angry. Even when they’ve gone their separate ways, it still feels like John wants to irritate the bear when it comes to Shannon. Here’s the optics.
John Janssen sues over facelift
If it’s his money and she owes him… When news broke in March that John was suing Shannon over a facelift, I thought the man had finally lost it. Seriously, who sues her over something so bizarre? John claimed he loaned the Real for Real founder $40,000 in January 2022. And again in May 2023, all for vanity. John claims she agreed to pay him back, and the mother of three claims it was a gift.
Is John Janssen a user?
Other housewives have claimed on more than one occasion that John lived a pretty comfortable life with Shannon. Except when she was yelling at his kids, I guess. During season 10, Heather Dubrow revealed in a confessional, “Shannon pays for everything. The family dynamic is not great. And he’s never slept over at her house and his son lives with him, so she doesn’t go over.” According to Emily Simpson, who was visibly upset, “John has been verbally abusive to (Shannon) and saying she’s fat or unattractive. I don’t feel like he’s committed to their relationship and I feel like she’s wasting her time and I feel like she could do better.”
During the season premiere, Emily repeated what she had heard: “Shannon hasn’t told me anything in three years except that he’s not paying for anything. He’s taking advantage of her.” Right, Shannon says… But she has to borrow $75,000 from him to get her face done.
Luckily, Vicki Gunvalson spilled the tea on the latest episode of RHOC. The OG of OC all but confirmed what some of the other housewives were thinking. The mother of three yelled at her friend, “You paid for all the upgrades on the flights, for all the clothes, for all his stuff. And that’s just what I know. He’s an idiot.” Once again, at some point, she necessary be Money for something, otherwise they wouldn’t have legal problems.
Is John Janssen spiteful or is he fed up?
I think the cherry on top of this breakup was the fact that John took Alexis Bellino to the same gym he once shared with Shannon. Ooooooooooo, that’s devilish! To make matters worse, John is now also seeking damages in connection with his facelift lawsuit. I suppose he’s entitled to them if he gave Shannon money and she won’t pay it back, according to In Touch.
John basically laughed at the idea (I assume) that the case should be dismissed and doubled down. John’s attorneys argued, “Mr. Janssen’s claim for punitive damages is justified by the facts and claims alleged in the (complaint), which sufficiently demonstrate malice and fraud by alleging that (Shannon) acted with the intent to induce Mr. Janssen to rely on her misrepresentations to defraud Mr. Janssen and induce him to loan the defendant money that she never intended to repay. (Shannon’s) fraudulent intent is further evidenced by her continued assurances to Mr. Janssen that she would repay the loans and her recent attempt to characterize the loans – for the very first time – as ‘gifts’ that she does not have to repay.”
There is obviously no friendly relationship between the two.
