Jenna Bush Hager shared a rare photo of her daughter Poppy as her youngest daughter turned nine.
The proud mother of three shared rare photos of Poppy on Instagram, which are the spitting image of Today presenter. The now nine-year-old leaned on her mother in a selfie as part of the carousel post, where both wore bright pink shirts and matching smiles.
Two more photos showed that Poppy had imitated her mother in other ways too: she was an avid reader. She sat in bed reading Heidi Hecklebeck while her father Henry read “All The Colors Of The Dark” by Chris Whitaker.
Other photos show Poppy spending time with her older sister Mila and younger brother Hal and snuggling up to her cat.
Jenna captioned the photos: “Happy birthday to my sunshine girl: Poppy Louise! She is hilarious and loving and totally original!”
“Nine years with this beauty: and my world is more fun, more dazzling and definitely filled with more laughter! We love you,” she continued.
Jenna and Henry announced the birth of their second daughter in 2015 and explained that her name had special meaning.
“We are so excited to announce the birth of our beloved daughter,” they said, revealing that “Poppy is named after Jenna’s grandfather George Herbert Walker “Poppy” Bush, also known as Gampy.”
They added: “His childhood nickname was Poppy and we are proud to name her after a man we adore so much.”
Poppy’s middle name is “in honor of our grandmothers’ middle names, Louise and Lewis. Mom and Poppy are healthy and well,” the statement concluded.
Poppy is especially close to her grandfather, former President George W. Bush. When he spoke at a question-and-answer session in one of her classes, “she just sat at the computer and was so proud that her grandpa joined in via Zoom.”
She had obviously inherited her parents’ sense of humor and cheekily invited her classmates to fly on Air Force One.
“I had to explain to her that it doesn’t work that way,” Jenna said. “She will never fly on Air Force One unless she becomes president.”
Jenna is also the mother of Mila, 11, and Hal, who just turned five.
On the occasion of his special day on 2 August Today Moderator posted: “Five years with this beautiful boy! I love you, Hal Hager! Today and always!”
