NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) – Avelo Airlines has announced new and expanded routes from Tweed-New Haven Airport.
The airline announced Tuesday that it would launch a new nonstop route to New Orleans this fall and doubled winter flights to Puerto Rico.
Avelo announced it is offering one-way flights from Tweed starting at $79. Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.
“With 27 nonstop destinations in Tweed, it’s easier than ever for travelers to take advantage of our convenient, affordable and reliable air service,” said Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines. “I’m grateful for the support Avelo has received from government, community and business leaders across the state, and I want to extend a special thank you to our amazing crew members in Connecticut who make it all possible.”
The flight to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will begin Nov. 14 and operate Thursdays and Sundays, Avelo said.
Also in November, Avelo announced plans to expand its Boeing Next Generation 737-800 fleet in Tweed, doubling the number of large aircraft from last year to offer more customer capacity during winter travel. Avelo announced that eight aircraft will be dedicated exclusively to Tweed and more than half of the company’s 19 aircraft will be dedicated to Connecticut.
“New Haven’s focus on cultural equity and economic opportunity makes New Orleans an extremely important new destination,” said New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker. “Avelo’s nonstop service will strengthen existing connections between our cities and foster new collaborations in the arts, science and innovation.”
