No dangerous cargo, just tons of mangosteens on flight MH370, says airline boss

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 was carrying 3 to 4 tonnes of mangosteens to China, the airline’s CEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (pictured) said today.

At the last press conference on the missing MAS flight MH370, Ahmad Jauhari added that there was no dangerous cargo on board the plane.

After the disappearance of MH370, police began questioning all crew members on board, including the pilot and co-pilot, as well as all ground staff.

Police again visited the homes of pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah and co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid on Saturday and confiscated a flight simulator from the pilot’s house.

Acting Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein called on China to review its screening of Chinese passengers on the passenger list, adding that authorities from various countries, including Interpol, had reviewed the passenger list and found nothing suspicious except the use of two stolen passports.

The investigation revealed that the holders of these two passports, two Iranians, were not terrorists but economic refugees.

The Chinese government had previously granted entry permission to all 152 Chinese citizens on board the aircraft.

However, Hishammuddin said Chinese authorities had been asked early this morning to re-examine the passenger list and to intensify their efforts. – March 17, 2014.
