Richard Simmons found dead one day after his 76th birthday

Richard Simmons has died at the age of 76.
TMZ reported on the fitness guru’s death, saying law enforcement sources said they and fire officials responded to a call from his housekeeper from his Los Angeles home shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday (7/13/24) and pronounced him dead at the scene.
His death occurred one day after his 76th birthday – after he announced in March that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Insiders added to TMZ about his death: “No foul play is suspected at this time and police believe this was a natural death.”
Earlier, Richard posted a series of posts on Facebook thanking his fans for all the well-wishes he received on his 76th birthday on Friday. (12.07.24)
In a rare interview, New Orleans-born Richard – who retired from the spotlight 10 years ago and whose real name is Milton Teague Simmons – told People magazine that he plans to blow out a candle to celebrate the milestone.
The health fanatic joked in the chat: “But the candle will probably be on a zucchini. You know, I’m a vegetarian.”
When asked how he felt at 76, Richard replied: “I feel good!”
“I am grateful to be here and to be alive another day.
“I will spend my birthday doing what I do every day: helping people.”
Richard rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s by opening a number of gyms, including The Anatomy Asylum in Los Angeles.
He has also released dozens of fitness videos and DVDs, including “Sweatin’ to the Oldies,” “Party off the Pounds,” and more, and his fans love him for his positive energy and flamboyance.
Richard withdrew from the spotlight later in life as he still needed to display his energetic personality in public, but kept his fans updated about his life on social media.
In March, Richard told his followers that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer.
On Facebook, he described in detail the moment he learned about his illness and reported in a long post how attempts were made to remove the cancer cells.
