Authorities said a teenage driver struck two motorcyclists in Tacoma early Saturday morning.

Emergency personnel took the two motorcyclists to Tacoma General Hospital. They are both from Olympia. One is 23 years old, the other 44. Both were wearing helmets.

The 16-year-old teenager was unharmed. Authorities arrested him at Remann Hall on suspicion of driving under the influence and assault with a vehicle, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol.

At about 1 a.m. Saturday, the teenager was driving his car south in both northbound lanes of Interstate 705 at Schuster Parkway. The motorcyclists were traveling in one of the northbound lanes on I-705.

The teenager collided with the motorcyclists and the teenager’s car came to a stop between both lanes. One motorcyclist came to a stop in one lane and the other motorcyclist came to a stop in the other lane.
