Just got home from a long night on Harbor Island thanks to a big blue marlin landed by the Moore Bills crew. The big fish was just 3.5 pounds off first place at 894 pounds and was an exciting finish to a pretty busy night of scale action. The first boat to arrive at the scale tonight also jumped on the leaderboard and was just 1.5 pounds off its leader. The Billfisher, with Captain Jon Duffie at the helm, landed a 76-pound white marlin right at the start today and finished in second place behind Waste Knot’s 77.5-pounder. I’m not sure if any of the 70 boats still fishing the 2024 White Marlin Open will be racing tomorrow, but some may try their luck on Saturday, which was added before the tournament began. Outside of the tournament, Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters has had a few nice trips where his anglers have caught fish. This morning there were lots of bluefish and this afternoon there were two flounder and more bluefish.
