Pine Canyon Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona, has announced the completion of a $6.4 million renovation featuring a longer, improved layout and sustainable irrigation technology.
The private golf course, originally designed by Jay Morrish and opened in 1994, bills itself as a “19-hole championship golf course.” The 18 holes are 7,265 shots in length, while the 19th hole, aptly named “Double or Nothin’,” is a 100-yard shot to an island green. It is perfectly located from both the men’s locker room patio and the clubhouse porch. It is popular with members for social events, tournaments and “closest-to-the-pin” competitions.
The goal of the renovation was to improve the look and playability while extending the lifespan by about 100 years. At the same time, the system was more sustainable thanks to new technologies in the irrigation system, with 30 percent improved water efficiency and a smaller number of sprinklers.
In parallel with the renovation, it was announced that 12 luxury homes in the Highlands are now for sale. Owners and developers Scottsdale-based Symmetry Companies are the last new homes in Pine Canyon, called Ghost Tree.
Prices for the property, billed as an “exclusive enclave of 12 ultra-luxurious homes,” start at $3 million, setting a market record of over $1,000 per square foot. It’s the first time new homes have been for sale in Pine Canyon since 2021, when all 26 lots in Pine Run sold out in one day. The Ghost Tree name comes from the iconic gnarled, weathered, decades-old ponderosa pine with an osprey nest on top.

The golf community encompasses nearly 600 acres.
The $6.4 million renovation of the golf course represents the largest investment in the course’s history. The renovation was carried out by Michael Kuhn & Associates.
In addition to the golf course, Pine Canyon offers a full-service spa, fitness facilities and numerous outdoor recreational activities including a soccer field, flag football field and whiffleball court.
