Many experts believe that the COVID-19 virus was transmitted to humans at one of China’s fresh markets. According to some reports, a fresh market in Wuhan, China, known as the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, is believed to be the source of COVID-19, National Geographic reported.

Wet markets are usually large outdoor gatherings of stalls selling fresh seafood, meat, fruits and vegetables. You can also buy live seafood, fish, crabs and other sea creatures for cooking. Some wet markets also sell and slaughter live animals on site, including chickens, fish, shellfish, crabs, etc. China’s Huanan Market also has an area where you can buy wild animals or slaughtered baby snakes, beavers, porcupines and even crocodiles.
