Rylan reveals how heartbreaking it was when his ‘serious boyfriend’ left him crying the whole way home after finding fraudulent text messages

Rylan Clark has made a heartbreaking confession that he “cried all the way home” after a heartbreaking discovery from his past.

The popular TV presenter rose to fame on The X Factor and married Big Brother’s Dan Neal in 2015 before the pair sadly split six years later. And now, at 35, Rylan is speaking openly about the profound influence his first serious boyfriend, a professional dancer, had on him.

The couple were already quite serious when Rylan was just 17 – then still known by his real name Ross – and even introduced each other to their families. However, the romance fell apart when they attended a pantomime show in which the dancer was performing.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Rylan described the devastating moment: “I met his family, did all that stuff, rah rah rah, and we all went to see him in the pantomime (in Aladdin). I swiped to open a message on his iPhone and found out he had shagged his co-star!” reports the Daily Star.

He linked the episode to “Broken Strings” by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado and admitted that it was the soundtrack to his tearful journey: “I know it was when ‘Broken Strings’ by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado came out because I cried the whole way home on the train afterward. I won’t tell you his name because he’s married to a woman now.”

Rylan later revealed his own infidelity during his marriage to Dan, which led to the breakdown of the marriage and triggered a personal crisis.

Rylan was married to Dan from 2015 to 2021 and confessed that he had been unfaithful during the relationship – after which Dan ended the relationship following this admission.

During this dark period, Rylan battled suicidal thoughts and his weight dropped alarmingly to just 100 pounds. He described these difficult times in detail in his second autobiography: TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future.

Yet Rylan is as resilient as ever, recovering and looking forward to better days. He wrote a candid reflection, saying: “I got into a relationship pretty young and just stuck with it. Now I know I’m my own person. I’m not going to settle for something that’s not right. In a way, it was a little gift.”

“I like having sex with someone and that’s all, that’s not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. Will I have fun doing it? Absolutely.”
