Insights into the war room of FC Bayern Munich before the transfer window closes

Bayern Munich have spent more on transfer fees than they have sold during the summer transfer window – at least so far, as the Bundesliga giant continues to reshape its squad and balance sheet.

A report by TZ journalists Manuel Bonke and Philipp Kessler describes the task that lies ahead for Bayern sporting director Max Eberl. Recorded by @iMiaSanMia:

The FC Bayern supervisory board will meet on Wednesday. Max Eberl has to present his figures to the board. It would therefore be good for him if he could present another successful sale in time for the meeting. And since Leon Goretzka is still vehemently opposed to leaving, Kingsley Coman could be the one to raise further funds. Bayern and Al Hilal have an agreement in principle, but Coman’s consent is still missing as he is not entirely convinced about a move to Saudi Arabia.

Coman already had two lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia last summer, but this career move was never an option for him. In recent days, however, the Frenchman has become aware that he no longer plays a real role in the club’s future plans. He is therefore hoping that clubs from other top European leagues will get in touch before the deadline day on Friday.

Wednesday is over in Germany, so Coman is running out of time to find his dream transfer. Goretzka seems to be staying, and Jonathan Tah is also likely to stay in Leverkusen or move to FC Barcelona.

Can Eberl count this transfer window as a success? And will the supposedly frugal supervisory board see it the same way?
