Facebook users are bombarded with ‘Happy Birthday’ posts in bizarre glitch as people joke: ‘Someone messed up’

FACEBOOK users are experiencing a bug in the site’s algorithm that is bombarding their feeds with “Happy Birthday” posts from people they don’t know.

Numerous reports from people across social media on Wednesday suggested that their entire feeds were filled with the birthdays of randomly selected users.

“Why is MY FEED full of people I don’t know wishing each other ‘Happy Birthday’?” asked one user on X.

“Why do I see every single person I’m NOT friends with wishing the people I am friends with ‘Happy Birthday’,” asked another.

“My entire feed is ONLY this. I can’t refresh it,” she said, explaining that she only sees birthday wishes from her friends’ friends.

And as it turns out, this is not the first time this error has occurred in the algorithm.

The last time this happened was in 2022, when pages were littered with users commenting on celebrity profiles.

The 2022 incident was resolved within a few hours.

Facebook blamed “a configuration change that caused some people to experience issues with their Facebook feed,” but did not elaborate.
