SkyTeam Elite? Take advantage of Vietnam Airlines’ rare new status match to make your next trip a special experience

Vietnam Airlines has announced a status match offer. The company is a partner of Delta Air Lines and a member of SkyTeam. In addition, the company has a number of other partnerships that can provide elite recognition, so this should be quite interesting for many.

• With Vietnam Airlines status, you’ll receive priority check-in, boarding and security screening on Delta flights, as well as free checked baggage. If you’re flying economy class on an international trip, you may also receive lounge access.
• Their top status includes complimentary upgrades to Premium Economy (if available on the day of departure) as well as priority for operational upgrades to Business Class. Vietnam Airlines serves the San Francisco – Ho Chi Minh City route and can be a great starting point for travel to Southeast Asia.
• I’ve never seen Vietnam Airlines offer status matches, which is useful because if you’ve already gone through other SkyTeam airlines to find a match, this one is probably new and new to you.

My SkyTeam status comes from Air France KLM (Gold), which means I can check free bags on an upcoming Delta flight in economy class with my family. That’s a real saving.

Vietnam Airlines limits its status matching to customers from certain countries – but the USA is included:

Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China) and Thailand. In addition, members living in the following countries around the world can access this exciting offer: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the USA.

Once you achieve the status, your new status will remain valid for one year. Here are the benefits of Platinum. Unlike Marriott, Platinum is two levels above Titanium in the Lotusmiles program.

This is not a free match offer! The fee to match to the top tier is $299.

Once you receive the card, you will not receive a physical card, but when you fund the Lotusmiles account, the status will be reflected on your boarding pass. However, you can request a card via email ([email protected]) and a card will be sent to you “within 20 to 30 days, depending on your location.”

Here are the programs whose status is being compared:

A Southwest Airlines Companion Pass is equivalent to the top tier, which is odd since A-List Preferred is not. Even a Lufthansa Senator is not. The United, American and Alaska 75K tiers are equivalent to Vietnam Airlines’ Platinum tier. Of course, they are not equivalent to Delta’s elite tiers.
