Ultra Music Publishing/Helix Records is hiring an Associate Director, Business & Legal Affairs to support the General Counsel & SVP, Business & Legal Affairs and help us grow and manage our catalog of artists and music-related content. We are looking for someone with the enthusiasm and passion to bring music into people’s lives around the world.

Candidates must have a legal background, be comfortable working on a variety of music-related contracts, and have experience drafting and closing recording and publishing contracts. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team, and for those who are curious, there may be opportunities to move into other areas of the business.


Tasks

The position of Associate Director, Business & Legal Affairs includes, among others:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide variety of contracts, including recording agreements, music publishing agreements, producer agreements, supporting artist agreements, master licensing agreements, video production agreements, label waivers, independent contractor agreements and nondisclosure agreements.
  • Effectively manage relationships with artists, artist management teams and attorneys on a global basis.
  • Advising executives, A&R, finance, licensing, product management and marketing teams regarding contractual obligations and restrictions, including advising on claims and matters in litigation and pre-litigation proceedings.
  • Create deal summaries and maintain and manage proprietary enterprise systems.
  • Advising internal departments and management on day-to-day business and legal issues and strategies
  • Update and manage contract templates regularly.
  • Balance, prioritize and coordinate a large number of diverse and time-critical projects in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum requirements
  • Admission to practice as a lawyer in the United Kingdom.
  • At least 2 years of legal experience in an entertainment company or related legal practice.
  • Experience in a business position in the music industry is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills required.
